LOCAL FOOTBALL: Rabbits claw Tigers

Bowie High School head junior varsity coach Quentin Berend called Thursday’s 28-6 victory over Gunter a “team win.”
That was certainly the case as every single Jackrabbit played, and even Seth Robinson made a couple of tackles in the fourth quarter.
Berend reported it was the first time in three years any Gunter junior varsity team had been beaten.
“They are a quality junior varsity team and they beat Pottsboro two weeks ago,” Berend said. “We were scrappy and we keep getting better. I am proud of the kids.”
Bret Davis continued his fine play on offense, producing most of Bowie’s points on touchdown runs, as the offensive line showed signs of cohesion.
The defense stepped up, and didn’t allow Gunter to score until there was 3:01 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Zach Otto, Luis DeLeon, Chandler Allison, Stone Boxham and Oscar Moreno all keyed the defense by forcing fumbles, recovering them or making tackles for loss. Read more, and see box scores, in the weekend Bowie News.
