EQUINE EVENTS: NCTC horse judging team meets with success

North Central Texas College’s horse judging team members had a great showing at the American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio.
The students competed against colleges from across the United States.
Competitors judged three halter, eight performance classes and had to give an oral defense of their placing reasons on five of the 11 classes.
NCTC placed third in high team overall, fourth in halter and reasons and third in performance.
Christy Petry was the fourth highest individual overall, with a sixth-place finish in halter, third place in performance and eighth in reasons.
Lyndi Starr was 10th high individual in performance, and Bre Henderson 10th high individual overall.
Becky Terrell serves as the team’s coach.
The American Quarter Horse Congress is one of the most prestigious collegiate competitions in the country.
