HIGH SCHOOL FISHING: Anglers compete at Eagle Mountain Lake

The Bowie High School fishing team will compete at Eagle Mountain Lake this Saturday, with morning check in set for 4:30 a.m. and boat launch at 6 a.m.
The event will take place at West Bay Marina in Azle.
Decatur High School is serving as the host school.
Bowie will be represented by Kollin Gillaspia and his new teammate Jeremy Stone, a freshman. Trent Gillaspia will serve as the boat captain.
Mitch Sanders will be paired up with Jared Stone, and Rusty Edwards is the boat captain.
Lane Hopson and Hadley Morgan, fresh off winning scholarships last season, will be a team to watch this season. Scott Wolsey serves as boat captain.
After the first tournament in Graford at Possum Kingdom, Bowie is in ninth place in team of the year standings among West Division groups.
Morgan and Hopson are sixth in the angler of the year standings. Both of the Jackrabbits other teams are tied for 26th.

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
