HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Longhorns rising

Well, so much for expecting a close contest between the Forestburg and Saint Jo in this Montague County six-man clash on Friday.
Matthew Wallace rushed for 168 yards and Taten Vann returned both a fumble and an interception for touchdowns as the Longhorns thrashed the Panthers 61-12.
Now comes Homecoming week for Forestburg, facing a Harrold team that has been outscored 303-68 and hasn’t won a game.
Forestburg head coach Wayne Tuckwell said the Longhorns didn’t get caught up in the hype playing Saint Jo on Oct. 2. Now they have to do it again for Homecoming.
The Homecoming ceremonies will take place before the game. Forestburg plays Harrold at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
“Everybody was focused on what we needed to do,” Tuckwell said of Friday’s victory over Saint Jo. “It was a complete across-the-board strong effort on offense and defense. It was one of our better games.”
Forestburg leveled its record at 3-3 and showed why it could be a dangerous team once the district slate rolls around.
Tuckwell said Harrold will be a challenge, regardless, because of what the Hornets could run against Forestburg.
“The Harrold head coach, that’s one reason why I love playing them,” Tuckwell said. “Coach Craig Templeton’s playbook is never ending. You never know what you will get from formations and plays. He comes up with some stuff.”
Defensively, expect Harrold to line up in a 3-3 versus tight formations and 2-3 when Forestburg is in probable passing situations.
