Tales ‘N’ Trails Museum unveiled a unique new exhibit this past week, a working one-sixth scale 1923 Fort Worth Spudder Super D.

The new display came to life thanks to its benefactors Dick and Mona Heath of Farmington, NM, who donated the equipment to the museum.

The Heaths and several members of their family took part in the unveiling on Nov. 5, with Dick Heath turning on the spudder for guests to see in full operation.

Museum board members were ecstatic to receive this unique item that helps fulfill one of the museum facets of energy production. It also answers the questions how does a spudder work.

The museum has had a 1913 Wichita Spudder on site, but no one really understood how it worked. Now, visitors to the museum can see how it works on a much smaller scale. Read the full story in the mid-week News.
