BJH Robotics teams prove themselves mechanically inclined; 1 advances to state

Bowie Junior High is building a name for itself in the world of robotics competition after bringing home a sweepstakes win at area.

Seventh and eighth graders from Bowie competed in the area TCEA, Texas Computer Education Association, contest on Jan. 16.

The school had two teams, the Terminators and the Tech Guys, compete in the TCEA Robotics Intermediate Arena Competition, and one team, the Ocean Cleaner, compete in the TCEA Robotic Intermediate Invention Competition.

In just its second year of competition, the junior high teams brought home a sweepstakes win with the Ocean Cleaner team. Read the full feature on the robotics teams in the mid-week News.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
