Make time to visit the youth fair

The Montague County Youth Fair is underway at the Montague County Agriculture Center in Nocona. The poultry show opened the day with feathers flying at 9 a.m. Farm shop class judging was at 10 a.m. in the community center. The lamb show began at 11 a.m. with the dairy cattle show at noon, followed by the goat show at 2 p.m. The public is encouraged to come out and support all these county youngsters with their projects. Friday schedule

9 a.m. Rabbit Show

1 p.m. Heifer Show followed by steer show

Saturday schedule

7:30 a.m., Nocona Community Center, public viewing of home economics division entries and silent auction opens. Closes at noon

8 a.m. swine show  at agriculture center

5:30 p.m. Clover Kids Parade

6:30 p.m. Premium Sale

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
