HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Nocona begins season today

The Nocona softball team has a new leader, with Lindsay Cline taking over as head coach.
Karie Lewis and Jenni Luke will serve as the assistant coaches as the Lady Indians come off a season in which they went 5-18 overall and 2-12 in 3A-9.
Seniors Sherese Price and Karlie Pepper will spearhead Nocona this season. Price is set to play shortstop, with Pepper at third.
Softball plays at the Burkburnett Tournament with a game versus Windthorst at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 25. The Lady Indians play the Denison JV and Burkburnett JV on Feb. 26, with the Denison game at 11:30 a.m. and Burkburnett at 7:30 p.m.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg Sports Banquet

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
