Nocona City Council calls election

It was a brief meeting on Tuesday night for the Nocona City Council as it set the May election and approved economic development funds.
The first item passed was a request from the Nocona Economic Development to expend funds for $39,000 for a zero-interest, seven and a half year loan to the Fenoglio Boot Company.
The loan is for an additional embroidery machine to keep up with the demand of orders coming in.
The council was informed the company also has added 14 new employees since opening its doors to keep up with orders, bringing the total number of employees from 50 to 64.
The council voted to call the election set for May. The election is for the three open seats for Nocona City Council, presently filled by Tracy O’Neal, Bob Ferguson and Steve Tettleton.
Deadline to file for the election is Feb. 19.
Next Nocona City Council meeting is set for March 8.
