STATE: Paxton offers an opinion on fantasy sports

State of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton offered an opinion on the growing number of daily fantasy sports sites on Tuesday.
Paxton also went to the air, talking on regional sports talk radio stations including KESN-FM 103.3, an ESPN affiliate based in Dallas.
In recent years, sites such as Draft Kings and FanDuel have sprouted up, offering sports fans the chance to assemble teams for a chance to win money.
FanDuel offers daily fantasy for pro and college football and basketball, baseball and hockey.
Draft Kings also has fantasy offerings for golf, English Premier League soccer and Mixed Martial Arts. For example, the site currently has a contest called the Winter Golf Classic, with $200,000 at stake.
“Paid daily ‘fantasy sports’ operators claim they can legally operate as an unregulated house, but none of their arguments square with existing Texas law,” Paxton said. Read more in The Bowie News.
