Bellevue High School senior Jakob Watkins has been named the District 1A-21 boys’ basketball team.
The team was formally announced on Monday.
Slidell junior Colton Crane was named offensive player of the year while Forestburg’s Skyler Sandusky was tabbed the top defensive player.
Newcomer-of-the-year honors were shared between Tioga sophomore Javier Rivera and Kyler Wyatt of Midway.
Shane Coker from Midway was chosen as the coach of the year, taking the Falcons to fifth place in 1A-21 with a 15-12 overall winning record.
Bellevue was the district champion this year, for the second straight season. Forestburg took second on a coin flip over Tioga. Gold-Burg was sixth, Prairie Valley seventh and Saint Jo eighth.
Among local players, Bellevue’s Layne Morris and Gabriel Garza and Bear Osteen and Malaci Moore from Forestburg were on the first team. Read more in the March 12 Bowie News.
