SPRING SPORTS ROUNDUP: Bowie JV baseball splits

The Bowie High School junior varsity baseball team split games at the Tournament of Legends on Thursday at the outdoor sports complex.
The Jackrabbits defeated Peaster 9-5 in the second of two games.
Bowie (1-1) was up 3-1 after two innings; then Peaster forged ahead 5-3 before the Jackrabbits rallied to win.
VARSITY BASEBALL
Nocona 15, Notre Dame 2
The Nocona High School baseball team opened the season at its own Nokona Gloves Tournament on Thursday – earning a 15-2 victory over Notre Dame.
Charles Evans and Kameron Hill both doubled and produced three RBIs while Tristan Cable and Tanner each had two RBIs, and the Indians rapped out a 14-hit attack.
Jeremy James went the distance for Nocona yielding two runs (one earned) on three hits. He allowed three walks, but struck out five. Nearly 60 percent of his pitches were for strikes.
Nocona (1-0) scored nine runs in the first inning, and six more in the second.
SOFTBALL
Windthorst 11, Nocona 1
Windthorst defeated Nocona 11-1 in the season-opener for the Lady Indians on Thursday at the Burkburnett Tournament. Sherese Price scored the team’s lone run in the loss.
