HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: All hands on deck for Bowie

Bowie High School head baseball coach Ryan Rogers made the decision to bat Deagon Kurz from Trace Hardee during Tuesday’s game against City View.
On a two-ball, two-strike count, Kurz was hit by a pitch and moved to first base. Kamry Weber followed with a screaming triple to center field, scoring Kurz.
Everyone in the Bowie dugout jumped for joy. It was a euphoric moment, and everyone congratulated Kurz for scoring.
It was that kind of night for Bowie as the District 3A-9 front-runner played City View, once again the cellar dweller, and the Jackrabbits prevailed 18-0.
“We have some kids that put in hard work like everyone else,” Rogers said. “It was great to see them have their moments.”
Normally, Kurz’s biggest chore is keeping track of the Jackrabbits’ quality at-bats on a clipboard, but scoring and smiling sure resembled a better job to have. Read more, and see the complete box score and district standings, in the April 16 Bowie News.
