HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Blank you very much

Bowie High School has plenty of pitching depth, and that was on full display during Friday’s District 3A-9 game at Jacksboro.
Barrett Brooks tossed a two-hit complete game as the Jackrabbits downed the Tigers 2-0 to remain perfect in district games.
“Barrett threw the ball well, and he had good command,” Bowie head coach Ryan Rogers said. “He was able to fill up the strike zone, and that’s exactly what we needed from him.”
Brooks struck out seven and walked four. He threw enough strikes and worked out of jams to help Bowie win.
Bowie improved to 14-7-1, 8-0 in 3A-9 heading into Tuesday’s home game with City View with Trace Hardee getting the start.
Throwing Brooks on Friday now allows Rogers to save ace Chandler Dean for Friday’s game on the road at Paradise.
“We have a lot of options,” Rogers said. “I like our pitching depth, and I have confidence we can get the job done.”
Brooks was able to get movement throughout the strike zone with his two-seam fastball, and Jacksboro helped out by leaving six runners on base. Read more, and see the complete box score and district standings, in the April 13 Bowie News.
