In team golf, it can be tough to put the right lineup together to keep your point total low.
That’s what the Prairie Valley High School boys’ golf team discovered during the District 1A-21 golf tournament on Monday at Nocona Hills Country Club.
The course played 4,971 yards for the girls and 6,155 yards for boys under virtually ideal conditions – with just a breeze from time to time.
“I put the older boys up higher in the lineup,” admitted Prairie Valley golf coach Lisa Sadler.
Midway topped Prairie Valley for second place, 528-532; but, the Falcons have opted not to go to the Conference 1A Region 3 meet set for The Champions Course in Stephenville.
That means the Bulldogs will advance to the regional meet as a team, paced by the Roofs – Lane Roof with a 125, Anthony Roof 132 and Shane Roof 135.

Saint Jo’s Sarah Patrick will return to the Conference 1A Region 3 meet at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
Patrick earned the silver medal after falling to Slidell’s Sarah Beaver 7-5, 6-2 in the girls’ singles championship at the District 1A-21 tournament on Thursday in Denton.
Patrick came into the event as the No. 1 seed, but couldn’t quite top Beaver.
Prairie Valley’s Taylor Carter finished third; but, she will advance to regionals since Patrick will not compete.
In boys’ doubles, Forestburg’s Malaci Moore and Skyler Sandusky teamed up to defeat a tandem from Slidell for the championship, winning by scores of 6-3, 6-2. Read more in the April 9 Bowie News.
