HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Hallettsville tops 3A

Hallettsville stands No. 1 in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association Conference 3A rankings released by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
Hallettsville has a record of 23-1.
Brock also sits in the top-10, in third spot. Grandview is 12th, Peaster 16th, Howe 20th and Palmer is in a tie for 25th. No District 3A-9 team is ranked, including Boyd.
In Conference 4A, LaGrange is the leader at 28-1, with Krum ninth.
Gregory-Portland (21-0) is No. 1 in Conference 5A, with Frisco second and Hallsville third.
Deer Park is tops in the Conference 6A poll with a 28-2 record, with Belton next in second and Plano West third. Keller, Flower Mound, Denton Guyer and Mansfield also are among the top-20.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
