HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: Area track competes at VV

Two-time state qualifier Cheyenne Banks of Forestburg won the shot put with a heave of 32-feet, 2-inches for a gold medal at the Valley View Invitational on Thursday.
Banks also took second in the discus with a mark of 95-0.
Cayla Smelser was fifth in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 18.11.
On the boys’ side, Skyler Sandusky earned gold in the high jump with a mark of 6-feet even, and he also was third in the long jump (18-7).
Sandusky also competed in running events with a fourth in the 400-meter dash (54.75) and sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.61).
The 400-meter relay group of Sandusky, Bear Osteen, J.D. Moore and Taten Vann placed sixth (46.49). Michael Pearce was sixth in the junior varsity boys’ shot put.
Malaci Moore added a third-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 42-2.
In the JV division, Gold-Burg’s Brandon Lee won the 100 dash in 11.70, and he was third in the 400 dash (58.07).
