HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: Cook leads Bowie girls

Bowie’s Addy Cook continued her mastery of field events to give the Lady Rabbits plenty of points.
Bowie finished fifth overall with 49 points, and Nocona was right behind them with 46 points for sixth spot.
“I was very proud of the way my girls competed,” Nocona head coach Lyndsey Shaw said. “They came out, without having a day to practice since the last meet, and worked hard. We had some personal-best records, and earned a few medals.”
Bellevue didn’t score any points; but, the Lady Eagles used this meet as training for events down the road – including the Conference 1A Area meet set for April 16 in Boyd.
“It was pretty tough competition for us to be running in the varsity girls’ division,” Bellevue head coach Bryan Goehring said. “I thought they got some much-needed experience that is preparing us for our area meet.”
For Bowie, Cook supplied full points by winning the triple jump with a mark of 35-3, getting the gold over Emma Davis from Breckenridge. Cook also was second in the high jump, marking at 5-4. See complete standings in the March 30 Bowie News.
