OUTDOORS: TPWD honors Bowie’s own Pellizzari

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department honored Bowie High School graduate David Pellizzari with a Director’s Life Saving Citation.
Pellizzari, along with Matt Waggoner, rescued an elderly couple from rising floodwaters during the May 2015 floods.
Pellizzari serves as a game warden in Palo Pinto County, which includes the communities of Gordon, Graford, Mineral Wells, Santo, Strawn and county seat Palo Pinto.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Director Carter Smith honored Pellizzari as well as other men and women for their outstanding acts of service at the 12th annual Law Enforcement Division Awards Ceremony last week.
The ceremony recognized Texas game wardens, non-commissioned TPWD employees and first responders from other agencies – as well as the general public.
Game wardens are oftentimes the first to arrive at natural disasters or search-and-rescue situations. Read more from this outdoors notebook in the April 20 Bowie News.
