Several area athletes performed well enough at Thursday’s Area 3A-9-10 meet to advance to the regional competition next week.
Multi-event athlete Zeke Vaughan, thrower Daniel Mosley, jumper Logan Lawhorn and jumper Addy Cook have all advanced.
Nocona’s Rachel Patrick qualified for the regional meet in the pole vault, and teammate Maria Hernandez did the same in the 3,200-meter run.
“Addy did a great job competing today with some stiff competition,” Bowie head girls’ coach Colby Davis-Pastusek said. “She did what she had to do in both events to advance and gain one more week to get better.”
Overall, Bowie’s boys earned fourth place in the district meet, although complete team standings weren’t available.
“We beat every team from our district,” said Bowie head boys’ coach Daylon West. “Zeke (Vaughan) earned a trophy as the high-point boy.”
Vaughan racked up 36 points all by himself.
The Conference 3A-Region II meet is set for April 29-30 at Whitehouse High School, with the meet hosted by Tyler Junior College. Read more in the April 23 Bowie News.
