HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: League starts June 2

Several Bowie High School softball players were recently named academic all-district in District 3A-9.
The players are as follows: Maylie Short, Henslee Ogle, Jayde Brezina, Kellbie Throckmorton, Addy Cook, Katelyn Allison, Hattie Hammer, Taylor McCarty, Callie Melton, Chloe Turlington, Hannah Wilson and Carrington Davis.
The requirement is a 90-plus average for the first five grading periods.
Express softball league set
Eight area high school teams will participate in an Express Softball League.
Games will take place at 6:30 and 8 p.m. on Thursdays at Bowie High School for four out of the five weeks.
The eight schools are as follows: Bridgeport, Alvord, Springtown, Jacksboro, Paradise, Millsap, Chico and the Lady Rabbits.
All teams will play doubleheaders those nights.
Bowie takes on Springtown on June 2, followed by Millsap on June 9, Alvord on June 16, Bridgeport on June 23 and Chico on June 30. For information, call David Correll at 1-940-782-9699 or email: dave@daveinsurance.com.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg Sports Banquet

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
