RODEO: Nocona Bullfest set for May 21

The 12th annual Nocona Bullfest is set for 7:30 p.m. on May 21 at the Chisholm Trail Rodeo Arena in Nocona.
Mutton Bustin’ will open the slate. This event is for cowboys and cowgirls ages six years old and under.
The main rodeo will begin at 8 p.m.
The event will feature bulls from the following stock contractors: Big L Rodeo Company, United Pro Rodeo Company and Locke Bucking Bulls of rural Nocona.
There also will be a calf scramble, a steer scramble for ladies and team donkey races.
The Rotary Club will run the concession stand, with proceeds benefitting community projects and scholarships.
Your ticket stub will get you into the dance after the rodeo at the VFW in Nocona.
Advance tickets are for sale at Fuel World, Gibbs Drug Store and One Stop Conoco in Nocona and Cavender’s Work and Western Wear in Gainesville. Read more in the May 14 Bowie News.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg Sports Banquet

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
