HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Bowie fourth at Glen Rose

The Bowie High School volleyball team wrapped up play at the Glen Rose Tournament on Saturday – finishing fourth in a field of more than 20 teams.
Bowie advanced to the Gold Bracket for the second time in as many weeks based on a 3-1 effort in pool play last Thursday.
“We got fourth place,” Bowie head coach Jeanie Stark said. “Last year, we didn’t win a single bracket game. We are competing at a higher level. We beat (Conference 4A) Springtown, which was a huge win for us.”
Bowie stood at 9-7 heading into Tuesday’s match versus Millsap. The varsity group is off this coming weekend – preparing for an Aug. 30 match at Ponder and then the Buckle Up for Lane’s Sake Tournament in Nocona.
The Lady Rabbits advanced to the semifinals before facing a tall task – literally – in the form of Conference 6A Weatherford.
Interestingly enough, Weatherford wasn’t even ranked in the top-15 of the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll. Read more in the Aug. 24 Bowie News.
