Nocona ISD to make second run at bond election

By DANI BLACKBURN
Nocona Independent School District officials will ask voters for a second time in less than six months to consider passing its first school bond in 38 years.
The facility advisory committee went back to the drawing board after the district saw its first proposal fail in the May election, 552-426.
Nocona ISD Superintendent Vickie Gearheart said the board met on Aug. 8 and unanimously agreed to ask voters on Nov. 8 to approve a $16.8 -million bond package to build a new high school.
The proposal is $1.7 million higher than the one presented in May, with construction costs increasing by $10 per square foot during the last three months.
