HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: That’s more like it, Bowie

Smoke led to fire for the Bowie High School football team – and the maroon-clad team came away with their first win of the 2016 season on Friday night.
The Jackrabbits topped the Eagles 38-17 during their first home game since Aug. 26. To kick off the event, the Bowie Booster Club added smoke to the new Jackrabbit run-through at the beginning of the competition.
“We are happy to get our first win,” said head coach Dylan Stark. “I’m proud of the guys for sticking together and improving each week.”
Holliday came into the game with more confidence, coming off a three game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Jackrabbits were coming off a three game loss, but after a score in the first quarter, a score on an 85-yard kickoff return by Logan Boyd in the second quarter and five fumble recoveries, Bowie gained the momentum needed to win the game.
Brandon Hutto contributed 114 rushing yards on offense and the defense clicked.
Dillon Swaim contributed 11 tackles and Matthew Wallace 10 more stops as the Jackrabbits defense didn’t allow a single point to be scored in the second half.
