The Nocona Lucky Paws Animal Shelter will celebrate its new facility with a ribbon cutting and grand opening from noon to three on March 11.
The ribbon cutting opens the festivities at noon, followed by a burger and hotdog feed sponsored by the Nocona Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8558. Everyone is welcome to tour the new facility and meet the adoptable dogs.
“We hope to eventually bring a balance to the issue of overpopulation of companion animals in our local community,” said Board Member Jo Patrick. “We have already seen that with the new facility. We are getting more traffic locally to adopt dogs and more interest in volunteering as well as fostering.”
The new facility, located at 35 Airport Road off West Highway 82, is a project years in the making.
