HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: A time to bond for Bowie girls

The Bowie High School girls’ basketball team wrapped up summer league on Monday with games versus District 3A-8 rival Nocona as well as Alvord.
Kamryn Cantwell played for the first time this summer, and she helped lift the Lady Rabbits by the Lady Indians by two points.
And all indications are pointing to some competitive games between Bowie and Nocona this season.
These past few weeks have been busy for Bowie, which began with the Bridgeport league on Mondays and the Lady Rabbits triumphed at the Brock State Qualifying Tournament (SQT).
Winning the Brock SQT qualified Bowie for the state Texas Basketball Championships in the Metroplex last weekend – however the Lady Rabbits opted not to play.
“I think the kids are tired, and they are ready for a little bit of a break,” said Bowie head girls’ basketball coach Chuck Hall, entering his second season as skipper.
Another one of the exhaustive highlights this summer was Bowie’s participation in the Cache (Okla.) Summer Festival.
