HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Forestburg search for new coach ongoing

The search for the new head boys’ basketball coach continues for the Forestburg Independent School District.
This pursuit initially began when Steve Sandusky announced his retirement during the spring; and the Longhorns thought they had a replacement when Brock Ramsey was hired.
However, the former Paducah skipper Ramsey ultimately decided not to take the position, and the search for a new coach was reopened.
“It’s still ongoing at this time,” said Forestburg athletic director Thomas Tritz.
Tritz reported Forestburg has received more than 20 applications.
“We are still cycling through those to find ones that match certification for the teaching position we have open,” he said.
The position would be combined for head boys’ basketball and social studies instructor.
Tritz said he hopes to have a person named for the position within two weeks. He’s handling the hunt with the help of a hiring committee formed by various people with ties to Forestburg ISD.
This has been an eventful offseason for schools in District 1A-21, like Forestburg.
Saint Jo hired Michael Wheeler, a former Texas Express AAU and Coram Deo Academy coach, and Gold-Burg turned to ex-longtime Petrolia head coach Gordon Williams. Read more in the July 1 Bowie News.
