Nocona ISD Trustees select lone superintendent finalist

Dr. David Waters, currently assistant superintendent at Llano Independent School District, has been named the lone finalist for Nocona ISD superintendent.

NISD Trustees met Monday night and made the selection after several months of sorting through a record number of nearly 50 applicants. Waters was chosen after a second interview with three finalists and their families. After his selection is finalized by the board following the required 21-day waiting period, Waters will begin working with Dr. Vickie Gearheart who is retiring at the end of the year.

Waters has been a high school teacher, elementary and junior high assistant principal, elementary school principal and has worked at the district level the past four years.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
