UIL announces 2018 Lone Star Cup honors
University Interscholastic League Lone star Cup winners have been announced.
The Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications, 1A through 6A.
The honors are based on a school’s performance in district and state championships, honoring the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas. Standings include state and area marching band, tennis, team tennis, cross country, volleyball, football, swimming and diving, wrestling, basketball, soccer, golf, track and field, academics, one act play, softball and baseball.
While no Montague County schools made the list, several area schools were named.
Muenster finds themselves in the number eight spot for the Class 2A division.
Montague County’s smaller schools see their district competition, Slidell, ranked among the Class 1A schools.
Tioga also made the list at number eight and Lindsay is ranked fifth for Class 2A.
Bowie’s district rival Holliday makes the list, as does Brock as the Lone Star Cup winner for the Class 3A division.
