Crabb named Bowie girl’s coach

Bowie Independent has found its person to take over the girl’s basketball program, Joe Crabb from Garden City at the Monday morning school board meeting.
With a career spanning 26 years and more than 600 wins, Crabb comes to the Lady Rabbits program with a lot of experience coaching girls and winning games.
After three years at both Erick High School in Oklahoma and Silverton High School to start his career, Crabb spent 17 years coaching at Strawn compiling a 428-128 record during that time. The last four seasons he has coached at Garden City and compiled a 114-17 record, with the 2017 team making the state tournament.
Besides girl’s basketball Crabb also has coached cross country, track, tennis, golf and baseball.
Athletic Director Dylan Stark said his overall resume was a plus, as well as what people had to say about him around the state.
“His record is very impressive,” Stark said. “He’s coached girls for 26 years. He doesn’t move around a lot. He is just someone who is very respected in the coaching community.”
