Montague County athletes help east win 35-7 in 82nd Oil Bowl football game

The Maskat Shrine Oil Bowl Classic All Star Games took place this past weekend, featuring the area’s best athletes in football, basketball and for the first time volleyball.
The weekend concluded with the 82nd football all star game on Saturday night between the east and west. Six players, three each from Bowie and Nocona, took part and were on the east team contributing to a one-sided victory against the west 35-7.
From Bowie, wide receiver/defensive back Joey Crawford had one catch for 16 yards and one of his team’s six interceptions as the east defense forced seven turnovers. The Jackrabbits A.J. Craddock saw time at linebacker and running back and Zack Otto split time amongst the offensive line.
From Nocona, wide receiver/defensive back Hunter Fenoglio tied the storied game’s record by hauling in two interceptions. He added one reception for 29 yards on offense and made all five extra point attempts as the team’s kicker.
Jason Daughtry also saw time playing on the offensive line while Trent Womack missed most of the game with an ankle injury.
With all six possibly strapping on the pads one last time after months away, unless they decide to walk on at college, representing their high school one last time was a sweet way to end one’s high school playing career.
