Falls Town Flyers lose championship game

The Wichita Falls Town Flyers could not overcome the undefeated Amarillo Bombers on Saturday night as the team’s played in the Us Arena Pro Soccer League’s first championship game.
The Bombers won big 16-8 as the game was played in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Flyers trailed from the start as they fell behind 8-3 at halftime. Despite two goals each from Christian Okeke and Tono Hernandez, Wichita Falls finished as runners-up in its first season.
The Flyers finished the season with its only losses coming at the hands of Amarillo in all four matchups this season.
Despite dealing with coach and roster changes throughout the season, Wichita Falls showed time and again it was one of the best teams and had chances to show it was on par with the Bombers in some of their games.
Amarillo won the first three games with scores of 12-7, 8-3 and 6-4, but the Flyers were within a goal or two until the fourth period in all three of the previous games.

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
