Red River High School Bass Club meets

iver High School Bass Club met on July 24 to crowd of about 30 interested parties, including parents, at the courthouse annex in Montague.
With leaders in the Bowie High School Bass Club stepping down as fishermen graduated, Justin Hansard stepped in for a leadership role.
While the Bowie High School Bass Club featured many other youngsters who did not go to Bowie in the past, Hansard decided to rename the club so as to avoid any confusion.
“It’s a new name, but the same club,” Hansard said. “We do have a lot of new kids coming in. We got kids form Bowie, Saint Jo, Prairie Valley, Nocona, Henrietta and Gold-Burg off the top of my head, but it is open to kids from Montague, Wise and Clay Counties.”
The club will still compete in the Texas High School Bass Association in the North Texas Division. Five tournaments are scheduled for the upcoming school year.
The Bowie High School Bass Club had four teams qualify for the regional tournament last year on its way to finishing runner up in club of the year in the North Texas Division. The team of Ian Ashley and Cooper Gamblin also finished runner’s up in the division for angler of the year.
Hansard estimates they have enough kids for five or six teams lined up this year and are still looking for sponsors.
