Saint Jo
The Saint Jo Lady Panthers came out on top in its second tournament at Savoy during the weekend.
The Lady Panthers won all three of their games to win the overall tournament.
Saint Jo first played Blue Ridge to start the tournament. The Lady Panthers took care of business against the Lady Tigers, winning in straight sets by comfortable margins 25-16 and 25-18.
The next match came against S&S Consolidated. The Lady Panthers won the first set 25-19 and the second set 25-18 to make it to the championship game
Saint Jo next faced off against Texoma Christian School for the tournament title. The private school Lady Eagles showed they were not to be taken lightly as they beat the Lady Panthers in the first two sets by the barest margin 25-23 and 26-24.
While the rest of the tournament was a best of three format and would have spelled the end, the championship was a best of five.
Saint Jo was able to shake off the toughest of starts. Instead of hanging their heads, the Lady Panthers fought back to tie the match with one sided wins in sets three (25-6) and four (25-14). The fifth set was more competitive, but Saint Jo was able to get control in the end to win 15-12.
Prairie Valley
The Prairie Valley volleyball team competed at the tournament in Savoy last week
The Lady Bulldogs ended up finishing third overall as they went 2-1.
Prairie Valley first played Detroit on Thursday. The Lady Eagles played the Lady Bulldogs close, but Prairie Valley won in straight sets 25-22 and 25-23.
Coming back on Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs next played Texoma Christian School. Prairie Valley won the first set closely 25-22, but the Lady Eagles came back to win the second set by a big margin 25-13. The third set was not much better as the Lady Bulldogs lost 15-8.

Nocona got its new press box into place this week at Jack Crane Stadium. The old press box, which was in place for more than 60 years, was taken out in early June and moved to Indian Valley Raceway. The new press box was by the Southern Bleacher Company out of Graham. Athletic Director Black Crutsinger said they looked at a lot of press boxes and decided they liked the one at Lindsay High School and went with that model. Sean Hutson operated the crane from the Hurd Crane Service that put the press box up for Nocona.
