Prairie Valley beats Forestburg

The first county volleyball teams to square off this season in a real game happened on Tuesday when Forestburg traveled to Prairie Valley.
The experience of the Lady Bulldogs paid off as they beat the younger Lady Horns team in straight sets.
Prairie Valley got out to an early 8-2 lead. Forestburg was able to come back with some good serving and solid defense to get within one point at 13-12.
From there, the Lady Bulldogs pulled away and were able to keep the Lady Horns at bay with some strong net play to win the first set 25-19.
The second set was similar to the first as Prairie Valley again got out to a big lead early with a 9-1 lead thanks to some good serving and strong hitting at the net. Regrouping after a called timeout, Forestburg was able to close the gap to 12-8 after going on a 7-3 run.

Unfortunately for the Lady Horns, the Lady Bulldogs were able to keep them from getting any closer. Prairie Valley slowly pulled away for the rest of the set on its way to winning the second set by 10 points, 25-10, in the most one sided set of the match to go up 2-0.
Forestburg needed to win the third set to extend the game if it wanted a chance to win. The Lady Bulldogs had another strong start with a 7-3 lead. The Lady Horns were not going to wait around and went on a 9-5 run to tie the game up at 12-12.
From there, Prairie Valley was able to get everything going as it went on a 9-2 run to open up the lead to 21-14. Forestburg made one last gasp as it closed the score to 22-18, but in the end the Lady Bulldogs were able to close out the third set 25-20 and win the match.
Both teams play at 5 p.m. on Aug. 20 with Prairie Valley playing in Chillocothe and Forestburg at Perrin-Whitt.
