East lift station rehab project completed, new pumps online

By BARBARA GREEN

Three new 75-horsepower pumps were installed into the wet well of the Bowie east lift station this past week completing the rehabilitation of a 25-year old station that serves more than half of the city’s wastewater systems.
This project began in early July as Patterson Water Services began work to divert flow for the station allowing for the new construction and replacing the pumps in the wet well.
A small concrete block building was built to house all the electric panels, placing them in a place where they would be protected from the weather and temperature-controlled.
During recent weeks City of Bowie electric crews were wiring the new panels inside the building as the wet well was prepared for removal of the old pumps and to install the new ones.
