The Bowie Lady Rabbits traveled to Godley on Tuesday night coming back from the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Lady Rabbits were able to beat the Lady Cats 45-30 thanks in large part to their defensive play in the second half.
The first quarter was competitive as Bowie mostly scored inside, with Hope Jones scoring seven of the team’s 11 points. Godley made two three-pointers and only trailed 11-10 heading into the second quarter.
The points came from the perimeter more as the Lady Cats made two more three-pointers.
For the Lady Rabbits, scoring came from the bench as Landra Parr, Taygon Jones and Camberley Gunter combined to score 10 of the teams points. Godley led at halftime 23-21.
The second half saw Bowie come out with more defensive intensity, especially in the third quarter.
The offense kept on its steady pace as Abbi Gamblin scored seven of the team’s 11 points.
The Lady Cats only scored two points as a team from free throws as the Lady Rabbits retook the lead. Bowie led 32-25 heading into the fourth quarter.
The offense did not pick up for Godley in the fourth while the Lady Rabbits extended its lead to double digit to pull away.
Four players made at least one field goal while the Lady Cats only made one basket and finished with five points in the quarter. Bowie would win 45-30.

The new press box was by the Southern Bleacher Company out of Graham. Athletic Director Black Crutsinger said they looked at a lot of press boxes and decided they liked the one at Lindsay High School and went with that model.
