County mitigation plan up for public comment

The Montague County mitigation plan has been in the works since June 2018, but the draft proposal is now available for public viewing on the county website.
That draft plan also is at the Texas Department of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency awaiting their review.
To view the county draft proposal go to the county website at: co.montague.tx.us and click on hazard mitigation plan. While the document is nearly 300 pages, the front index notes each of the action plans. Those who wish to submit a comment can send it to the county judge’s office at: [email protected].
The Nortex Regional Planning Commission obtained a $500,000 grant that helped pay for developing mitigation plans for a 10-county area served by Nortex. It includes Montague, Archer, Baylor, Clay Cottle, Foard, Hardeman, Jack, Wilbarger and Young.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
