Central Hospital of Bowie “temporarily closed” its doors Tuesday at 5 p.m.
A note was posted on the hospital doors shortly before 5 p.m., about the same time hospital staff was informed.
A notice also was on the adjacent door that stated the following:
“We have decided to temporarily suspend operations effective today, February 4, 2020, so that we may have an opportunity to restructure our business. In accordance with this plan of action we are voluntarily returning the license to the appropriate regulatory bodies. All of our licenses are in good standing at this time. We appreciate all those groups and individuals who have made it possible to care for our patients over the lasts few years and we look forward to resuming activities as soon as possible.”
Bowie EMS and Nocoan Hospital EMS were both informed the hospital would be closing.
Texas General Hospitals purchased the former Bowie Memorial Hospital and reopened it under the new name in May 2017.
No further information was available at press time. Watch more on this story in the weekend Bowie News.

This leaves Montague County with only one full-service hospital at Nocona General Hospital.
