Traffic stop discovers 6 pounds of marijuana


A 22-year-old Irving man was arrested Sunday night in Bowie for possession of six pounds of marijuana.
Sgt. Bob Blackburn of the Bowie Police Department said the arrest occurred at 10:30 p.m. on May 17. Officer Cody Stone was working drug interdiction in the area of U.S. Highway 287 and State Highway 59.
“This interdiction is part of an ongoing drug investigation targeting this area of Hwy. 59/287 as an entry point into Bowie for illegal drugs,” said Blackburn.
During the stop officers found six pounds of marijuana and arrested Jonathan Gonzales on a complaint of possession of marijuana five to 50 pounds.
