Bowie ISD to receive updates at Thursday meeting

Trustees of the Bowie Independent School District will meet at 5:30 p.m. on July 23 in the administrative board room at 404 E. Williams.
The agenda is filled with a variety of topics from a restoration update on the storm damage to state guidance for the start of the new school year.
The action agenda lists two topics related to Texas Association of School Board policy updates and action on career technology expenditures to exceed $50,000.
There is a closed session scheduled with topics of personnel consideration and safety plan update. Future meeting dates for a budget workshop, regular meeting and budget hearing and tax rate/budget adoption also will be discussed.
Administrative reports by the principals, assistant superintendent and chief financial officer also will be presented.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
