Election filing underway
Election filing for the city and school Nov. 3 elections opened on Monday and continues through Aug. 17.
Applications for the various city and school elections are now available at the city and school administrative offices.
There will be elections for Bowie City Council and school board, Saint Jo City Council and school board, Gold-Burg, Forestburg and Prairie Valley ISD.
Nocona will have city council election, but it was originally scheduled for May and was delayed to to the virus. No new candidates will be accepted for the ballot .
The regular meeting of the Bowie City Council for July 22 has been cancelled. City Manager Bert Cunningham and Mayor Gaylynn Burris will be attending the Texas Public Power Association conference.
City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
