12 county nonprofits join donation event Sept. 10

More than a dozen Montague County area nonprofits will be taking part in the annual Texoma Gives donation day on Sept. 10.
While the focus may be on Sept. 10, early giving began Aug. 27 and is welcome now at: texomagives.org.
Texoma Gives is a 16-hour, online giving event organized by the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation to grow philanthropy in Texoma and the surrounding 24-county area in North Texas and southern Oklahoma encompassing more than 200-plus nonprofits. It kicks off at 6 a.m. on Sept. 10 and continues through 10 p.m.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
