County commissioners to consider retaining 2020 tax rate

Montague County Commissioners Monday voted to consider keeping the 2021 tax rate at the 2020 level of .5641 cents per $100 in property value.
The court gave unanimous approval to the proposed rate, which will be presented in a public hearing at 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 23. Action on both the tax rate and proposed budget is scheduled for the Aug. 23 regular meeting agenda.
County Tax Assessor-Collector Kathy Phillips presented the certification of appraised values for tax year 2021 which shows total net value of $2,056,597,857.
This breaks down into real property $1,433,666,715 in net value, $609,211,060 in mineral property and $13,720,182 in rolling stock. The total gross value of all is $4,323,797,806. Taxable frozen is $268,994,069; $1,010,669.79 taxes frozen; $880,110 in new frozen taxable and $3,213.05 in new frozen tax.
The values for 2020 net totaled: $1,964,120,452. Real and personal net value was $1,287,068,065; mineral property, $664,182,160 and rolling stock, $12,870,227. There is an increase of $92,477,405 above the 2020 total.
