Bowie Sr. Center breakfast a big hit
More than 140 people were served Saturday at the annual all-you-can-eat breakfast at the Bowie Senior Citizens Center. All proceeds went to the Bowie Meals on Wheels program which serves freshly made food to the area’s senior citizens. The Bowie Senior Citizens Center provides approximately 3,000 meals a month to local seniors. Volunteers included the St. Peter Lutheran Church Youth group.

19th annual Bullfest coming to Saint Jo
Bullfest 2024 is almost here as organizers prepare an action-packed bull riding event on May 4 at the Saint Jo Rodeo Arena.
This is the 19th annual Bullfest, so grab a good seat by 7 p.m. to watch the exciting six and under mutton bustin’. Any youngster who wants to ride a sheep should sign up between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Entry fee is $10 per rider.
Bullfest admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. Children are $5 in advance and $10 at the gate. Those age five and under are free.
Advance tickets available at Fenoglio Boot Store, Conoco One Stop in Nocona, Fuel World in Nocona and The Gas Station in Saint Jo. As an added bonus your tickets will save your 15% on your next order at Fenoglio Boots.
The Saint Jo High cheerleaders will be providing concessions for Bullfest and parking cars.
Along with mutton bustin’ there will be a calf scramble and a lady’s steer scramble. The main event will feature a patriotic flag presentation, some of the best bullriders from around the country, an invitational junior bull riding, all atop bulls from Big L Rodeo Company, Locke Bucking Bulls and more.
After all the exciting rodeo action enjoy the concert/dance with Gabe Choate, born and raised in Graham. He got his start in the music business in the early 1990s and soon realized the strong roots of country music were calling him. He currently has two singles out and is recording an album. Bowie ISD accepts teacher recommendations
Bowie Independent School District Trustees accepted the recommendations for professional educator contracts with a few on hold as they await certification, as well as some staff who have indicated they may retire or resign.
The board met Monday night and Superintendent Blake Enlow said there are a few staff members who have said they plan to leave, but have not “formally” resigned. The board reviewed the list of contract offers in executive session and back in open session approved the list with stipulations for those finishing up certifications.
