North Park waterline loop approved

The Bowie City Council conducted a 15-minute meeting Monday night addressing a brief agenda of business.
This will be the last meeting of the year, as the council has canceled a second meeting due to the Christmas holidays. Mayor Gaylynn Burris said she anticipates rescheduling the Jan. 24 meeting due to the chamber banquet taking place that night.
There were two action items of new business.
The council gave approval to use $30,300 from the restricted infrastructure fund to loop a waterline in the North Park subdivision. City Manager Bert Cunningham said there is about $1.8 million in that fund and he would like to request the funds for this project.

Montague County Grand Jury issues November indicted cases

The following indictments were filed with the 97th District Clerk following the November session of the Montague County Grand Jury.
There were a total of 13 indictments with one sealed awaiting the arrest of a suspect.
A grand jury indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

New transformer arrives at Bowie substation

The new transformer was placed on its pad when it arrived at the City of Bowie electrical substation last Friday. Installation of this 20 Mva transformer, which is larger than the two 1992 original 12.5 units, will begin this week and come on line early in the new year. (Courtesy photos)
