Primary early voting ends Feb. 25

Published

on

Early voting for the March 1 party primaries opened Monday and will continue through Feb. 25.
There are four early voting locations in Montague County: Montague County Annex Community Room, Montague; Nocona Community Center, Saint Jo Civic Center and Bowie Bible Baptist Church.
Elections administrator Ginger Wall said there were 190 ballots cast on the opening day.
The polls will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday only. Feb. 21 is President’s Day, a legal holiday, so early voting will not be conducted on that day.
Montague County voters may cast ballots at any voting center, not just the one in their city or specific precinct. With county-wide centers, a voter can choose the most convenient polling location in the county for them.
A reminder to those interested in submitting an application for ballot by mail, the deadline for those is Feb. 18 and the application must be in the office before 5 p.m. that day. Forms are available on the county website at: co.montague.tx.us.

The Nocona City Council approved a trio of Nocona Economic Development Corporation requests and considered infrastructure work questioned by a city council.
Councilors met on June 10. Two of the NEDC requests had already been presented with the timeclock for comment started. With that time limit over, the requests were finalized.
The Type A and B Boards will spend $19,225 at the Indian Oaks Golf Club for equipment, aerifying and top dressing the greens and batteries for rental carts. It also will expend $20,000 to the Nocona Chisholm Trail Rodeo Arena Committee to build new concrete bleachers, railings, fence and platform.
The third NEDC request is a new one related to a Type B board loan of $200,000 to Amy and Chris Nunneley for a new apartment and office construction project.
