Fire dangers continue to rise

On July 25 the Saint Jo, Forestburg and Sunset Texas Fire Department responded to a vehicle/grass fire on FM 1655 near Forestburg. Crews arrived on the scene to find a pickup truck hauling hay with heavy fire conditions, which resulted in a several-acre grass fire. Crews worked quickly to contain the grass fire and save the truck.
Montague County residents are reminded there is a ban on all outdoor burning, and precautions are vital as the high heat and drought continue.
Friday afternoon firefighters from across the county were battling several large grass fires in the northern part of the county.
