Nocona goes to stage 2 drought restrictions

Nocona City Manager Lynn Henley said Tuesday at this point he is “not that concerned,” about water customers going to stage two water restrictions adding rainfall is forecast for the weekend which could put it above the trigger point.
As per the plan if the level at Lake Nocona drops below 824 mean sea level for 30 consecutive days, stage two is triggered. That trigger was pulled on Oct. 22. Despite light rain showers late this past week, the lake level was 76.3% full at 823.49 Monday. The lake is considered full at 827msl.
Henley said he was not surprised because he has been watching it closely for several months.
“I was afraid it would come during the summer when we have more water usage. It’s not too bad today, back in 2014 we were at 814, 10 feet lower and then it filled up in one day in early 2015,” Henley said.

Nocona City Council approves NEDC requests

The Nocona City Council approved a trio of Nocona Economic Development Corporation requests and considered infrastructure work questioned by a city council.
Councilors met on June 10. Two of the NEDC requests had already been presented with the timeclock for comment started. With that time limit over, the requests were finalized.
The Type A and B Boards will spend $19,225 at the Indian Oaks Golf Club for equipment, aerifying and top dressing the greens and batteries for rental carts. It also will expend $20,000 to the Nocona Chisholm Trail Rodeo Arena Committee to build new concrete bleachers, railings, fence and platform.
The third NEDC request is a new one related to a Type B board loan of $200,000 to Amy and Chris Nunneley for a new apartment and office construction project.
